Solved missing software. but still there.

what I mean is this. the software to run the DVD player on my 8.1 PC is missing. I used the PC to get updates for a small DVD player I use on my XP computer because that PC is not set up to be used on line, just play games. but now the other software for the DVD in the 8.1 PC is gone. what I mean by still there is it should still be on the hard drive. but I don't know how to find it. I sent an email to dell and they said I would need to buy the software. any ideas to find it on the hard drive and bring it up so I can use it? it seems I can use it to install software and even games, but nothing else.

I use VLC to play DVDs in Linux Mint. There is also a Windows version. It is free software. I have been very pleased with VLC.

tried to download it but it kept stopping and a small window would pop up on my screen saying i may need to scan my computer. well i already have that softwear needed to scan my computer, but the VLC still will not download. plus i have a 32 bit PC and the software says it's for 64 bit. don't know if that makes any difference.

64-bit software may or may not run on a 32-bit computer. If it runs, it will run poorly. That is definitely a problem here.

my correction. after the system, which I had to have help finding, I di have 64 bit on this PC. but I still cannot get this software to do download. even though I have had it before. just don't know where it went. gonna try to look for it.
