You can go to Task Manager > Processes, and one thing

Never, ever you should end the SYSTEM programs, because ending it might crash your desktop.

You can end programs like chrome.exe, etc.. Dont ever end explorer.exe, taskhost.exe, taskmgr.exe, etc..

    It's a gaming PC, so it's heavily modified :D
You can temporary kill dwm.exe but it will hop back on instantly. So there is no way to stop it because the theme is relying on it.

It uses too much cpu? I've seen that on a pentium 3 win8 installation. Your cpu seems to be Pentium M 1.60Ghz and that's also a bit slow for dwm so it seems. On the pentium3, the problem solved itself in a day or two.

Does this happened when the os was freshly installed or only later?

Anyway, there's no good idea to turn dwm off. Try all the themes, stop/restart the theme service, reboot and see what that gives.
It's a weird problem but I didn't see it on newer pc's.

    That's basically it.
I agree, I would say that it is probably the system specs. But there is no way to be sure, that is a pure guess.
May clear up at some point. Maybe an update is needed that will come later after full release?

To clarify though,, do you mean DWM (Desktop Window Manager)?

On a side note: you can kill Taskmgr.exe (it just closes taskmanager)
you can kill explorer.exe, bring up taskmanager again and click on file Run New Task and type in Explorer.exe to start it again
I would not recommend killing taskhost or any svchost.exe among other things. just wanted to clarify some of the items mentioned previously

The problem started after 3 weeks only. Initially windows 8 was even better than windows 7.
