Most likely it is the remnants of something that was uninstalled. I have had this happen before when uninstalling software via Programs & Features or the software's own uninstall feature. Many times the uninstall leaves some bits behind unless you use a dedicated uninstall program like REVO Uninstaller. If you really want to get rid of it you can try the Free version of CCleaner. I have used it successfully in the past to get rid of this type of stuff. If you do so always make sure you make an image backup or Restore Point just in case.
