SFC Scannow can't fix corrupted files

Hello, I've spent ten hours trying to fix this using DISM, SFC, and removing updates that are supposed to corrupt - however I can't upload the CBS logfile as the limit here is 2MB and even as pure text it is 2.8MB long. I've split it into two halves, CBS-1 and CBS-2. Please ignore CBS-3 as that is a partial file.

I've had to chop a lot out, but the cut-down version of the log file atatched gives an example of some of the "Fails" the log points out.

What are the next steps (beyond sfc, DISM, system restore and chkdsk /r) that I can now take? I don't have an install disk as the computer seller pre-loaded Windows 8.

I'm on Windows 8 not 8.1, but the main error that sfc pointed out was Error: 0x800F0906 (.Net 3.5 Error). I removed the update(s) that are meant to cause that, but no improvement.

I've found the same thing you just mentioned.....SFC scan and repair will usually ask you for the original install disk.
Then the repair process stops right there!

That's almost totally worthless today, as we never get original OS disks with new computers. It's been years since I even tried to use SFC to fix a boogered up HD. It's become a wasted effort, in most cases.

So that points up the true value of doing backups on your PC, at critical points, like when you install a new program.
I find that I need to back up my own PC, at least once per week, to keep my backups up to date with my hard drive.
I run my Backup/Restore from a Bootable CD or Flash Drive and save the Backup Image File to a 1TB, USB 3.0, external hard drive.
