when you say UEFI Menu > that would be the bios setup menu > so you can set your UEFI setting...

If you are running a multi-boot system - you want to enter the Boot Menu..

Is it safe to assume you are using a multi boot system ??

Or you will need to explain in more detail what you are wanting to do..

kyhi, when I say uefi I mean uefi and not the bios that you access via F2. I mean the new way of your computer setup.
thanks so far

mr brink, really sorry to bother you with a personal message but I believe you didn't see my last post.
regarding uefi ! I followed your tutorial and at the very end on the last restart to access the uefi, it goes back to the regular bios.
what am I doing wrong? can you help?
thank you in advance for your time
tony
btw you're my last hope

Hello Tony, :)

Which tutorial are you referring to? Is it the one below?

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/20256-uefi-firmware-settings-boot-inside-windows-8-a.html

Looking at your laptop's specs and manual from the link below at Samsung, it looks like your laptop only supports BIOS and not UEFI.

mr brink, thank you so much for your help.
this is the tutorial, on the last restart it puts me on bios.
something is wrong. windows 8.1 is installed on eufi, I have secure boot and fast boot on bios. aren't these signals of uefi?
in truth I didn't check samsung website.
would you mind to clear this for me?
I'm sorry this is the model of the laptop: ATIV Book NP270E5G-KD1BR
I just updated my profile to reflect it.
I never imagine that I would need it . . .

It sounds like you have UEFI then on that laptop, but you can use the tutorial below to confirm if your using UEFI or BIOS (legacy mode).

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/29504-bios-mode-see-if-windows-boot-uefi-legacy-mode.html

Page 81 of the manual looks like BIOS though, so it may be an earlier hybrid BIOS that supports some UEFI features.

If you have your PC set to UEFI Boot - you can not boot the OS in legacy Mode due to the fact the HDD is in GPT format..

You would enable legacy support for boot from CD/DVD or USB

I didn't mention the way I boot. I do know that if I installed windows in uefi, I have to boot in uefi, besides windows don't boot if it's not in uefi! I mentioned that I have secure boot and fast boot enabled. therefore I didn't understand your post. but, hey, I do appreciate your time to help me please continue. thank you so much, for now, I'm waiting . . .:)

From your PC's manual, it looks like you have a hybrid BIOS/UEFI screen like in the screenshot in my post above. Is that what you see?
