Shut down restarts, restart shuts down, sleep doesn't work

    Hello,

So I got a Samsung NP450R5E-X01EE laptop and randomly shut down, restart, sleep and hibernation got screwed up.
If you restart (windows updates etc) it says Restarting but then just shuts down and dosen't start up on it's own.
If you shut down, it says Shutting down and then after a few minutes turns back on.
If you put the computer to sleep, screen turns off but the fan stays on.. forever, pressing the power button does nothing and the only way to use it again is to hold the power button down for 5sec till it turns off.
If you put the computer to hibernate, same stuff as with sleep, but when you force shut down it and turn back on it resumes to where it was put to hibernate.

It ran on 500gb HDD before where the issue started randomly, I upgraded to a 120gb SSD made a clean windows install, checked bios for anything that could cause the problem and nothing has fixed it.
On the old HDD there was all the samsung's bloatware installed, on the SSD none of that is installed and the issue is still there.

    Warranty has expired.

Have you checked to see if there are bones buried in your backyard or under your house? Did your kids play with your Quija board?

I would call a priest to be honest.. have you seen the Exorcist recently?

try googling "resetting cmos" or googling "reset nvram" and of course put in also your exact samsung computer model..

it typically involves pulling out the batter of your laptop and holding down the power button for 20 seconds (with no power cord connected ofcourse..)

Well the problem with that is that the geniuses that designed the laptop have integrated the battery so i cant take it out >

    Update:
I swapped the SSD to the original HDD which was in there, ran samsung recovery and restored it to a point where it just came out of the shop, problem still exists.
Apparently samsung has added a buttton for devices with batteries built-in (whats the point of a built in battery man). I force shut down the laptop, pressed the button, held the power button (w/o power cord) for like 30sec, started it. Changed power button and set it to put the computer to sleep, after pressing it, screen went black and fan turned off after few seconds, the LED which indicates power stayed on. I pressed power button again to wake it up - it turns on but screen remains black, after that I force shut down it, then tried restart and other options, still same result.

no there was a difference right? it wasn't the exact same problem as before right??

basically you need to lookup by your manual or on the internet by the EXACT model number you have and how to reset CMOS

im just saying usually its' taking out the power cord and holding the power button.. but that is certainly not the case if your battery is STILL CONNECTED..

that does sound like a bad design..

this is NOT YOUR MODEL BUT..

    Some ideas:
    • Confirm BIOS is up to date
    • Load BIOS defaults
    • Set Windows power plan settings to default
    • Run SFC /SCANNOW
    • Repair install (last resort)

    and after you repair install,

Also Don't use the Ouija board anymore.. and hopefully your computer wont restart and turn on when you press Shutdown..
