For the repair install I mentioned in post 6 use this tutorial Repair Install Windows 8 You basically reinstall windows from a booted Windows system and it reinstall the windows files and settings. Use the latest Windows 8.1 installation files provided by the Media Creation Tool at Creating installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

Automatic repair is a less intrusive option often used for boot problems - see Automatic Repair - Run in Windows 8 You could try the Automatic Repair option first. Be sure to back up your PC before attempting these repairs.

The final option would be a clean install but then you will have to reinstall all your programs, drivers & user settings etc.

SteveC, if it's not too in-depth, is there a major difference between when to choose "Refresh" windows Versus the "Repair" windows?

    especially in this case..

uh.. the Ouija board wants to know..

Refeshing your PC will require you to reinstall your programs which can be avoided by doing the repair install. See Refresh Windows 8

In your original post, I just spotted you tried a clean install and you said that didn't fix the problem - is that correct? Did you wipe the disk before the clean install to ensure there are no issues with the disk partitions? Has the PC been working and can you remember whether something you changed caused the problem? If you are still having problems after a clean install then I would suspect the BIOS configuration or drivers. It my be worth searching the Samsung laptop Forums to see if others are having similar problems and find a solution there.

I installed a brand new SSD to where I installed clean windows 8.1, I've never seen that kind of a problem before, when I still had the old original HDD in I tried reseting the power options, reset bios to default settings, did a clean windows install and yes I did format the drive before. I took the back HDD cover off and I couldn't find any pins plus good old Google told me nothing :c
I thought of updating BIOS but the only samsung program that I found seemed fishy since people commenting about using it said they've had trouble with it such as rendering their devices useless so I'm not gonna bother with that.

Dont you have a "useless" device right now anyway? if it is the exact firmware update or bios update for your exact model device, then you really might want to try that..

if you want to get it in writing from Samsung themselves, then just write an email to their support contact, and they will surely write back to you saying "please try updating the bios" I mean 99% that is what they will say if they don't have another answer to it..

but speaking of, it's time to write to Samsung if you haven't already..
