Ah...about back-ups. The day I purchased the laptop, I came home, booted it up. Ran Windows Update, made sure all drivers were current, then did a bootable system restore disk. That's how I was able to re-install so quickly. Just for yucks, I also have a memory stick doing the same thing. Now I really need to get my cloud storage (both ms and google) up and running for data back-up.

I also need to find either a faq, how-to or something similar that can work on my excessively long boot times. Heck I timed it, took 8 minutes from the time I hit the power button until IE loaded and I was able to logon to Facebook. Rather frustrating to say the least.

look through all these haha.. maybe, I'm pretty sure people list some tweaks they do on how to start faster and what to disable and turn off etc..

maybe start at the end of the list and work your way back..

8 minutes? Not too bad. My "battleship or aircraft carrier" post/boot [cold or restart] takes about that long, plus or minus two minutes, to come a full at-ready desktop.

My main tip is to use Autoruns to see what unneeded start up programs are loaded and what tasks, drivers and services are set to run on your PC. Download Autoruns from Be sure you know what you are doing before disabling items particularly drivers which could make your PC unbootable.

You might also want to clear out disk space using CCleaner - I also use this to removed uneeded restore points.

You can also usually delete all files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP and C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp to free up disk space.

I'm about ready to head out to work, but I'll most certainly take a look at some of those suggestions. To add insult to injury, I grabbed a few of my favorite utility programs off Cnet downloads. Even though I'm very careful and check each and every program, including going through the legal document most have to make sure I'm not giving the program to install anything but that program. (Like changing browser settings, adding bars ect.) Unforitunily I wasn't careful enough as I now have that bleeping Wajam adware POS on my system. I'm sure that's also effecting my boot times as well.

Run Malwarebytes and Hitmanpro also .... and then run Eset Online scanner again.. you have to run them a couple or even 3 times to make sure you are clean..

just google malwarebytes and Hitman pro ..
