Hey, I'm a total nube, and my disk C: was corrupted, so I looked all these ways to repair the disk. One was from the command line, and now it's stuck at startup, trying to repair disk C:, and it stops at around 11%. Does anyone have advice about how to stop this never ending start-up without wiping out my computer? Thanks, anything helps. This is basically what I did

What is the size of your HDD.
Depending on the size of your HDD it can take hours or even a day.
You need to have patience.

[h=2]CHKDSK Seems to Run Forever. What do I do?[/h]Wait. On Windows 7 and earlier, it can take hours, even days, to fully run. It’s checking every single file on your computer and the larger the drive, the longer it will take. If you interrupt it, you’re just preventing it from doing it’s job. So when you start your computer again, Check Disk will start again because it wants to finish its job.

So, is it completely normal for it to stay at 11% after a day (24 hrs)? I really appreciate the help, as I'm trying to get some files out in a few days.

Is chkdsk already running 24 hours on your pc.
Than there could be some deeper problems with your system

After letting Check Disk do its job, there’s only one way to really check if it will run again on start-up – restart your computer. Hopefully, it won’t run and you can get on with your day. If it still runs, you might have deeper problems with your file system, the hard drive, registry issues, or the operating system itself. You should look into doing a Windows System Recovery, or possibly even a clean Windows re-install. It might also be possible that it’s time to install a new hard drive. That’s the extreme case, but it is a potential fix.

What happens if you reboot your pc, starts chkdsk again and stays at 11% again.

It is either a Windows 8 or 8.1. Sorry, I can't get the specs because it's stuck at startup... I did a safe boot, reboot, anything I could think of that's relatively safe, but it still goes up to 11% and stays there during startup.

[h=2]The best advice is you really should let it run, but if it’s causing you too much grief, you can cancel it.

Cancel ChkDsk in Windows[/h]During Windows startup, you will be given a couple of seconds, during which you can press any key to abort the scheduled Disk checking.
If while it is running, you need to cancel it, then the only way to do it, is to power down the computer. But then, again on next restart, the scheduled chkdsk utility will run.
If you want to cancel chkdsk in Windows 8 after you have scheduled it, here is how you can do it.

Using Command Prompt
To cancel a scheduled check disk, open an elevated CMD windows, type the following and hit Enter:
chkntfs /x c:
Here c is the drive letter.
This should cancel the scheduled chkdsk run.

Should I go somewhere to have an image transfer done?

First test how bad your HDD is. That it is stuck at 11% is with a reason .
