Is there not a way you just reinstall the WINDOWS 8.1 system files like you can with APPLE OS ? Apples OS / Mackbook pro is very easy and actually just a click of a few buttons and it reinstalls the OS without having to reinstall any of the other software. . Its simple and does not take much time. This question was sparked because, when I upgraded to windows 10 from 8.1.........it just installed the new operating system WITHOUT deleting ANY of my programs and actually CLEARED up some of the problems i was having with 8.1 but for other reasons I had to go back to windows 8.1.......

I now, sit here contemplating reinstalling windows for the 5th time due to failed SSDs and some system file / firewall issues that Microsoft cant figure out. They tell me to do a system refresh but I don't want to have to reinstall all my programs. It is also very time consuming.

SO guys............please tell me there is a way to refresh JUST the windows operating system and registry? or something..........vs having to do a whole clean install again. .............. I dread having to reinstall all my work and personal programs.

I have done all the SFC /scannow and Chkdsk and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ( not so sure what that does actually....or where it gets the image from but I ran them and came back with no errors.

Anyone know if this is possible and how?

Thanks in advance, for any helpful feedback or comments.

Sincerely, a very frustrated Windows user

Your current OS is Windows 10 ??? (appears so)

If so you can refresh the OS without losing your programs or files...

Performing a reset of windows 10 would remove all your programs and files..
So the is not what you are looking to do..

If you want to go back to Windows 8.1 you would have to reinstall the Windows 8.1 OS

I am questioning Windows 8.1, I did upgrade to Windows 10 but for other reasons I had to switch back to 8.1 so my question is pertaining to 8.1.

Is there a way to just refresh the OS without having to reinstall all your other programs ... I.E. Office , Adobe , all your drivers and much more ?

If you have not yet noticed, the policies on Microsofts website for the windows 10 download it says somewhere that for any upgrades of OS you only have 30 days to downgrade the OS firmware and ect.... If you are really unsatisfied you need to call Microsoft and tell them what happened and how you feel, so they have to help you. If that does not work then that is too bad for them, because they should help you or else they won't get any profit as they already have many problems with windows 10 and are getting many complaints and negative comments.

Thanks...
Charles
