Asus T100TAF loosing battery overnight. 100% charged, WiFi/Blue tooth turned off, System powered off, and when turned on in the morning, battery low. This just started in the last week or so, remember this happens with the unit OFF.

Looked for an App that would report battery drain, stats etc from MS store, nothing there, appreciate any suggestions.

No real suggestions for this, however....

1/ Is the battery known to be OK ? i.e will it power the device normally and for the expected run time when fully charged.

2/ Are you shutting the unit down fully ? Could something be causing it to wake.

With any battery issues its always worth removing the battery for a little while and then pressing the power button to remove residual charge that might be keeping any logic in a 'locked state'. Refit the battery and retest.

Once it is charged, 100%, it will last 5-6 hrs normal use. Yes fully shut off (no sleep/hibernate). Wake'n wish i knew! Any suggestions on program/app showing battery history similar to cell phone showing where all your battery resources are going to Tx

Just for grins, charge fully before turning it off for the night, then remove the battery. Put it back in the next morning and see if still fully charged. Will at least tell you for sure if hardware is draining it or if the battery is losing charge just sitting unused.

I'm afraid I don't know of any apps...

Just carrying on with this. How low is the battery the next morning ? Considering the battery can power the unit for 5 to 6 hours (and I'm assuming in normal use it does all get warm) then if its nearly drained the next day the unit should 'feel' warm as all the energy has been expended. The question is 'does it ?'

Edit... and that is a good idea of popeye's. You need to try that too.

The unit is still under warranty, 2 months to go. Watched a utube video on how to replace the battery, does not look that easy. My old Toshiba had a couple of screws on bottom to replace battery and HDD, that was easy.

In the morning, the case is not hot as when I normally use it. I am leaving the keyboard detached tonight to see if any effect. I bought this unit from the microsoft store @ a reasonable price, there is a MS store here in town, might have to stop down there and see if they have any techs, I also went to the asus web support site, not much there. Next is there phone number for support Tx

There should be no detectable heat at all when its left powered down. Even in a sleep or hibernate mode, the current draw should be so small as to produce no detectable heating.

Is the battery not like a normal easily removed laptop battery ? or is it built in like a tablet.

The battery is built in with multiple screws and electrical ribbons. I guess you could say it is a tablet with built in(detachable) keyboard. Last night, I left the keyboard detached, turned it on 24 hrs later, still full charge. Will try this a couple more times before declaring this as the problem. Now trying to figure out what exactly is the problem and getting a replacement. Tx for the help so far, will follow up shortly

Sounds like you are getting somewhere. I suppose the big question is whether this is a hardware issue or some weird software issue... or something trying to wake it.

Exactly, second over night without any battery usage. I checked to see if any buttons were stuck or non responsive, all looked good. I am starting to have high confidence that my battery is good:) I think next will try a 4 hour shutdown and see what the battery level is instead of another overnight test. Tx for your assistance in this puzzling matter:thumb:

Definitely sounding like the battery is OK.

Do you get the same loss of capacity if its powered off during the day instead of during the night ? Could anything like Windows Update be the cause I wonder.... default check at 2am or whatever. Just trying to cover all bases on this. Are your settings in 'Power Plans' really set to give a full shutdown when you do your chosen method of powering down ?

GEEEEZ! No loss during the day and for that matter, no longer at night even with the keyboard attached. Puzzling to say the least. Three days now of daily use, capacity @ 50 percent:confused: Tx Mike
