Laptop Keyboard not working

Hello All.
I am new to this forum and I am not entirely sure if this is the proper subforum, but to the point.
Recently I have been incredibly stressed out as my laptop is for all intensive purposes, unusable.

Pressing keys, does nothing.
When you click on a file, it opens file details instead of the file.
USB Keyboards, don't work.

However, I had found that if I turn the laptop of, hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds, turn the laptop on, spam esc at the HP Screen, everything works properly for about 10 minutes, then stops working again. Clearly it is not a physical issue.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and updated drivers countless times, to no effect.

I even completely reformatted my hard drive and clean installed Windows 8.1. Worked for about a half hour, then back to the usual.

I am entirely stressed out as I need my laptop for school, plus just the luxury of having a laptop. Anyone who can possibly help, thank you in advance, because I am truly stumped.

Cheers

Sounds like a Windows Update is causing the problem to me. After you did the clean install, did you do updates? If so, uninstall the last ones you did, see if that helps.

How to uninstall updates

Thanks for the guidance.

How would one go about uninstalling these problematic updates?

Keep in mind, I can't type, and thus I can't get past the computer name in setup.

Thanks again.

Keep in mind, windows is still in setup, since I haven't been able to set it up without my keyboard (PC Name).

When I boot into safemode, it says Windows 8 Can Not Be Setup In Safemode or something along the lines of that..

You said:

That's what made me think of Windows Updates. Remove an update

You do this with the mouse, no keyboard needed.

If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Should read:

Click Start button.
Type control then click on Control Panel at the top.
Click on Programs and Features.
Click on View installed updates at upper left.
Find the update you want then right click on it and select Uninstall.
