I'm sure you can tell, I'm not a gamer. I just want to learn about my PC--basically how it works and how to fix it. And how to tweak it, just a little bit.
Thanks for your response. I'm sorry I wasn't clear . I wasn't expecting one. Next time I'll close the thread to be sure it's ignored.
I solved my problem. I was trying to be sure I had a clean disk for a clean Win 10 install. I kept getting corrupt file notices and errors (I don't remember which ones) so I solved errors and went to Event Viewer. Then I went through Dism, sfc /scannow, chkdsk, and sfc. And I went back to Event Viewer. I also ran tests from Seagate regularly to see if there was any improvement and decided that test would be my definitive answer (it's a Seagate drive). I just stuck with it until it was clean and made my almost perfect clean install on a clean drive. Hallelujah baby! At least I'm up and running.
Now I'm off to Cortana discussions to solve that problem.
BTW, I did have the BSOD, I just didn't recognize it. I never expected Windows to put a frowny face on BSOD!
