It isn't a problem, go to your task manager and you'll find out what uses RAM.

64bit or 32bit windows 8.1 ? Open msconfig, type it at run command and select the boot tab, then select advanced options, is Maximum Memory unchecked? Know how to get to the BIOS, see how much is says there. Sometimes OS uses some or hardware does, but this is too much, usually only 100 or so MB it would use in this case, not a GB or more.

I can not give you settings in BIOS, not a setting i am looking to see, it should be one of the pages in BIOS that just states how much RAM machine is showing, all i wanted to know.
When you are booting and see ASUS logo should be either Delete or F8 one of those keys get you into the BIOS. I am not sure what page it will be on, just do not make any changes.

By system you mean BIOS ? Do not think another version or reinstalling windows helps this. Try to re-seat RAM again, meaning opening it again. Not sure if it is a system issue or hardware issue yet.

yes I've tried to remove and reinstall many times but there was no reaction whatsoever.. The following are promulgated:

I'm really confused about this.. if hardware or faulty ram, of course the capacity will not be visible.

Only one guess, always chance of faulty in anything, system issue was other idea of possible issues either compatibility or configuration of system. When buying RAM need to make sure it is compatible with your laptop, sometimes ASUS has a list of compatible RAM that works well. May need BIOS update, but i only saw up to 2014, as not sure BIOS version you had, but did not see anything stating for RAM in descriptions for each BIOS update. Unless i or someone else knows solution yet, you can always contact ASUS for free. Believe posted there website with your system here, if not get it again for you. Did you check in the BIOS to see if it states 6GB RAM ?

That's probably the RAM that is reserved for your hardware, although its a little bit much if you ask me.
Go to taskmanager > performance > memory > corner right to find how much exactly.

A lot of ones you see in services are Microsoft services, would not turn off or look to turn off any of them as may make system unstable or unusable. Main focus be more on programs you have on system other then Microsoft's. First look at Startup tab try disabling startups do not need running, sometimes can be done within program itself which is best alternative, but can not find them do it here.

To me this had nothing to do with Reserved RAM amount being shown, why are you asking this now instead ? As said look thorugh Startup tab in task manager, also look down at notification area, icons there that are not system icons most likely running when you boot up. Try right click them to go to the options of programs affiliated with them. What do you mean going back to ASUS for optimizing, did you buy new RAM this solve issue or not ?
