System Restore Error 0x80070005

    System Restore Error 0x80070005

I recently installed a driver for my PS3 controller to run on my iPhone. This screwed it up from running on my computer, so thankfully I'd made a system restore point. Though this restore point doesn't seem to work. It keeps giving me the error 0x80070005 and says something about not being able to reach a file and that I should uninstall any anti-virus software. The problem is, I don't have any anti-virus software. I tried running the chkdsk command (and waited 5 hours for it to finish) but nothing came out if it. I tried restoring to other points as well but that doesn't seem to work either.

Any help is very very appreciated. thank you.

P.S. I've used system restore before and it's worked intermittently, sometimes being useful and other times being annoying and giving me errors. The last time I've used it (about a month ago) worked.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I've tried running system restore from the advanced startup menu thing (though not from safemode, but that shouldn't make a difference) and it still did not work.

Edit 2: Running DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth doesn't seem to work and gives me an error
    Error: 0x800f0906
The source files could not be downloaded.
Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required t
o restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see

    Configure a Windows Repair Source.
Currently trying to fix it, could this be the problem?

Edit 3: I can't seem to get DISM /restorehealth working. I've looked for hours for things people tried to get it to work, I'm still getting that same error. Any suggestion would be very helpful!

Edit 4: I've uploaded the DISM log and gave a screenshot.

Maybe roll back to older driver in Device Manager ?

Thing is, I don't know where it installed the driver. My PS3 controller used to be detected as an Xbox controller due to some other drivers I've installed. The program I used for making my PS3 controller connect to my phone installed drivers which probably overwrote my older drivers, but I have no idea what or where they are. What I do know is that reinstalling my older drivers doesn't fix it.

So l'd rather not deal with all this mess and just try to fix system restore and go from there. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    OK.

I used to use Restore Points until I discovered they don't work a lot of the time.

    I can't help you with a non-working restore point.

But I can suggest that you might want to consider using Macrium Reflect in the future to make system images on a usb drive to restore from.

    It works good.

I don't think this was due to a non-working restore point as none of my other (5) restore points seem to work either!

Also, thanks for that program suggestion, downloading it right now.

    Some like the free Macrium.
    Some like the paid version.

I use the paid version because of the boot time recovery environment.
    Easier for me to use.

I may break down & get v-6 just put out.
    I have v-5 now.
    They ended support for v-5.

Ah. Sadly, I don't have money to get a paid version of anything. Is the free Macrium a 30 day trial? Because that's what it told me after finishing the installation.

Anyway, I would really like to find a way to fix this system restore error and restore back. If anyone has any advice I would be really glad for it!

Yeah I realized I downloaded the wrong one and quickly reinstalled. Works like a charm! I don't want to make a backup though until I can get this darn system restore thing working again, so I'm just keeping this on hold for now.
