    Chkdsk problem, dual boot Win7/8.1

I have Windows 7 and 8.1 dual booted on a native 8.1 laptop. Whenever I start my Windows 7 installation, it tries to run chkdsk on all of my partitions. I have attempted to disable fast startup in Windows 8.1, but it still runs chkdsk on Windows 7 boot. Any solutions?

Does that mean it isn't disabled or it is disabled as that will cause dual boot chkdsk if enabled.

It's entirely disabled in the power settings in Windows 8.1. Dual boot chkdsk still occurs.

    One thing you can try.

Boot Win 7. Open Disk Management and remove the drive letter for the Win 10 partition.
Boot Win 10. Open Disk Management and remove the drive letter for the Win 7 partition.

That way, neither OS should be able to affect the other.

    Win 7 and win 8

Same problem with two separate ssd

I have win 7 on a ssd in a PC full of disks.

I disconnected the win 7 ssd, and replaced it with a new clean ssd on which I installed win 8.1. It worked fine.

When I disconnect the win 8 ssd and connect the win 7 ssd, I get the following post when win 7 is starting up: "One of your disks need to be checked for consistency". It performs the check on every disk and win 7 works again.

The win 8 ssd is really just a preparation for installing win 10 on it. What have I done wrong / what should I do different when I install win 10 (over win 8) and keep win 7 on the other ssd to avoid the CHKDSK issue?

In my setup the two system disks never get to see each other because they are not powered at the same time, but they share my 5 datadisks.

Post a snapshot of a fullscreen Disk Management Window:

To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen. Expand the fields as necessary so everything can be seen.
