It is best to use the media with the Install.wim for use with the Image-health program...

You need the windows media for your version (win8.1 or win10) and for the correct build (10.010240 or 10.0.10586)

The program will find the install.esd - export it into a temp folder as an install.wim

using the install.esd does not always work correctly as the repair source...

I don't mean to be repetitive but is it correct to say I can use the .wim for everything-particularly the HEALTH procedure and .esd for all other clean installs etc.?
So instead of 6 discs from unknown sources I can just use .wim for the corrective procedure and clean installs?

For installation, upgrade and image repair = the media with an install.wim in the /sources folder is preferred

    Install.wim is Preferred over install.esd

The MCT usually creates media with an install.esd - so not a preferred media creation method

I won't pester you but want to keep notes and discs accurately. If you please, what is MCT ?

My system and all images are .esd I believe so should I do a fresh install with .WIM or leave as is and use the .wim disc for future use i.e. repair + install?

Other .esd discs are not needed so I can thin out the disc holder + just keep 2 .wim discs.

I do appreciate all your help and especially your patience. After this I think I am all set.

the results from the install.wim and install.esd are the exact same...

the install.esd is a super compressed version of the install.wim
so using the install.esd as a repair source is not preferred...

    No need to reinstall anything..

But if your sorting through duplicate ISO versions - keep the install.wim ISO versions...
And you can then delete the install.esd ISO versions..

    KYHI,

which option is the most up-date fix your windows option? option 2?

for example I don't want to use an "old" windows source to fix my computer.. if that makes sense..

    thanks
