command prompt and win outside environment

hello i noticed that the commands sfc/scannow and dism/online/cleanup-image/restorehealth




is not performing properly when i run command prompt from win outside environment(i boot from win 8 installation disk).for sfc says something ...(i dont remember exactly) that can't be found and for dism-restore health command that the log file can not found..something like that.why it happens?should work only via windows environment ?with right clik as administrator e.t.c?or i have a deeper problem?sorry for my bad english

You need to use the offwindir and offbootdir options, something like:

sfc /SCANFILE=d:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll /OFFBOOTDIR=d:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\windows

The drive letter will depend on where you OS drive is as it may not be C:, could be D: or E: or ...

You can find it by entering bcdedit. Look at the

osdevice partition=

line.

That would be

CD system32
sfc /scannow

But that won't work as you are not in the Windows directory of the OS boot drive.

Do as I showed in my previous post and it will work.

and for online retsore health command?

RUn these from a Elevated Commadn Promt:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow
