Very high CPU?

I downloaded the Windows 8 Release preview yesterday and have noticed my computer to be running very slowly and sometimes crashing.
I looked on Task Manager and noticed that my CPU was constantly at 100%, so I closed all the applications I was running but on 'Systems' the CPU was still over 50%.
Here's a screenshot:

Any help on how I can fix this?

Were you running Skype? An update, 5.9.0.123, issued yesterday, has cured that. The previous version was using >30% on my machine.

I am pretty sure CPU graph at Task manager is crazy. Right now it says I'm using 100% CPU, and my desktop gadget says I'm using 11%.

To enable this gadget, right click on desktop -> gadgets -> cpu meter. It tells you CPU and RAM usage.

I have exactly the same problem. On cold boot it looks like windows 8 locks 1 core completely and system process is running on 50%, which is 1 core (as the screen in the opening post shows). I don't think it is just a task manager bug as PC wizard 2012 shows 1 core at 100% and the other more or less 0%. The only way to resolve this issue is to restart and from then all works as it should.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I had the exact same problem. The windows 8 drivers on the Release Preview build were bugged for Realtek wifi. Installing the newer ones off the Toshiba website fixed the issue.
