Hello,
Following ongoing and never ending battle with house member installing numerous software hijacks to control my laptop. (I know I sound paranoid but if you only knew). Anyway, when I try system restore it is not available and says the volume shadow copy isn't working. Any ideas?

Seems been having a lot of issues lately, as far as possible keylogger would need a malware expert to run software tools on your laptop.
For System restore again you can try this.

From (Admin) Command Prompt copy and paste this and press Enter sfc /scannow

Same command prompt copy and paste this

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Again run sfc /scannow

Reboot Laptop and try system restore. Not sure if any possible infection may be causing this also as i am not a malware expert to say.

Yes too many issues to even type about....In fact too many to post in one forum alone and (I'm most sure I have driven every super user on here literally insane, as myself).
Upon attempting dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth the results are:
C:\Windows\system32>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Error: 87

The cleanup-image option is unknown.
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

And....when I attempt the sfc /scannow the results are:

Windows Resource Protecton could not start the repair service.

Last night I made TWO new recovery sources (one on USB, one on DVD) and did them both on a different computer (other than the one messing up because when I tried it said error: no class). The first one I made, on USB stick I made using a laptop with Win 7 Home Premium, in which I had successfully accomplished once before. The other one I made, I used the houses 'Desktop' computer (which is running Win 8 Pro). I compared the files on each after completion and they do not look the same. The one I made on DVD, via desktop, the files ALL have different dates, dating back to 2013. The one I made on USB, (laptop, Win 7), ALL have the same date on each file. This confuses me. SHOULD there be different dates on these? Since I made the Mediacreation tool YESTERDAY, shouldn't they have 'that' date? AND, they seem to differ slightly in file content. Like on the DVD, I see a file that says 'gameeuxmig-replacement.man. On the USB,this file has an alternate extension.

Suggestions? Thanks by the way for all your help on every issue. ...

I am confused about rest you are trying to do, trying to reinstall Windows 8 ? You know you can't use a disc or ISO from another PC's Windows to install on yours, right ?. Saying before this area of forum for Black Screen of Death, crashes is this what was happening to you now with a possible keylogger ? Making this from an ISO or disc said media creation tool is for bootable USB Flash drive ? Didn't you try this in another post ? Why trying reinstall windows again ? Sorry for all questions seem want to understand it all first.

Hi and thanhks for your help...and yes I've done this once before with lessons learned. The keylogger/Hi-jacker I believe is someone in the house first of all. All I know is that two days ago, (after I finally stopped them), I put my laptop in the closet to keep it from being accessed, and they found it anyway (I know this because I set up a 'trap' to show intruder, and they inserted a USB in my port and from there I don't know what they did because I can't find the folder. All I know is that they play this 'simulator' game on their desktop while controlling mine, if that makes any sense at all. I was just about to do this reinstall again, and they jumped on their desktop and started that damn game so i cancelled it.

So I want a CLEAN, no extra drive, no extra partitions other than necessary and no other users but me on this thing. But I'm afraid that as soon as I connect to the network, he has immediate control. I found an email from Tech Micro or Micro Trend, or something asking me if I liked my trial and how things were going. I also noticed the 'home intruder' received a package in the mail Saturday and this is when all really went bad. I peaked at their download on the desktop and saw 'GeoFence' or Geo something, and then BAM, he had it and knew it. Now I just catch him looking at my screen to see my progress. He swears he hasn't done anything but I know better because I pulled up a log where he installed Direct X as a silent install and remotely. I'm not stupid.
So....that's the story.

Word of advice as makes it more confused, need stick with one post for your issues, as it's mentioned here too

Yes, and i apologize for this, as I'm working off of two laptops at the same time and I'm having to do things 'rather quickly'. Meaning, I have literally seconds to connect online, log off, do some things off line then jump back on check here and off as fast as possible so my every move isn't tracked. But, I think it is already. I've been trying to delete and change permissions on files/folders all evening and can't. I was able to in the registry for a bit, then once I tried deleting a user name, PC crashed and now i can't even change permissions in the registry. And they say they haven't hi jacked my laptop .....I'm very upset and trying my hardest to get this straightened out and get myself secure as fast as possible. I do apologize for extra posts on what's been posted, but even my cell phone was 'added' to whatever program he is using. It's something very detailed, that's all I know and he won't admit it.

I'm telling you, I know it sounds strange....I read where if someone actually can get into your phone, they can install silent programs that do not show up on the desktop (of the phone). AND, he mentioned something the other day, his words were..."your in the cloud!"....I'm telling you he has something set up where he can monitor everything I do, regardless of what device I'm using.
It's crazy, it sounds crazy, I'm not on drugs and I'm not 'dumb' haha....but do you know what an 'improc server' is? Just wondering because I'm seeing this a lot in registry keys and it's been manually added.

Look, this is my last post on this..

If you wipe and clean your phone/computer .. and you don't go online with them until you have secured the best you can on both.. there is no way someone can get into your phone /computer..

your problem is you apparently live with a hacker/stalker - or whatever/whoever this moron of a Mr. HJ is...

put your phone and or computer in a locked box with a combination lock or something until you can move out and away from Mr. HJ.. your situation is ridiculous.

If you truly clean install windows and do not go online and wipe your phone and dont' go on that network and also DO NOT let Mr. HJ touch your computer/phone.. you will not be "tracked"

Haha,
Okay, thanks. ....I literally have been hiding both every time I leave the room, and being very discreet about it. I am even carrying my USB sticks in my pocket. I'm married to Mr. HJ so it's not that simple. He won't admit that he's doing this but I know he is. When my iPhone4 all of a sudden could open PDF files, and the screen looked more like a tablet rather than a 'phone' while online, I knew for sure.....Bit by bit I'm going through the registry and getting rid of the Improc 32 Server, in which I think some of this is stemming from ....even with a clean install, him having the laptop in which I was able to 'download' the fresh ISO, it's been a near death experience in getting it all right. I don't even care that he monitors what I'm doing. That's not the issue. The issue is this playing cat and mouse and the fact that I can't beat him at his own game. I want to prove him I can. I told him I installed something in which if anyone attempts to transfer a file from my computer they will be infected with a virus. He said, 'you really think you're that good huh?', I said, 'yep!'....so now I'm looking for something online in which if I someone DOES try to transfer ANY thing from my laptop, they get some devil face that pops up, or some funny message pop up that says 'your system will crash in five, four, three...'. That would be super awesome funny. But, I don't know enough about programming to get that far yet. YET> I say. ....Thanks for helping me out and I really do appreciate everything everyone has helped me with even though it all sounds ridiculous and insane, (which it is), y'all really have been the biggest help ever and I couldn't have done it without you. :)

Haha,
I'm married to Mr. HJ so it's not that simple. He won't admit that he's doing this but I know he is. :)

ok.. I kinda figured it was something along those lines..

I leave you with this, in my opinion, your husband should be spying and stalking the stock market so he can make more money and stop wasting time spying and stalking his wife..

but hey, it's not my business. i'm out.

Hopefully you will gain what you're wanting to do.

This has been interesting reading - like a spy novel or something....

My question is - why don't you have a password on your computer and phone so no one can log in but you?

Haha...I do and have always had a password on both. This is why all has been extremely frustrating. I don't know how it's happening. I'm trying to learn my computer bit by bit, piece by piece, all by taking it apart and piecing it back together. Lessons learned. But yes, it is like a spy novel I suppose but I guess it's more like 'true crimes' or something. But I sincerely appreciate everyone's input and help, regardless if I've missed past posts, hence a repeat (sorry). I'm really all new to the forums and I think every one of us has been a rookie at some point and can relate. (Especially when you go back and read some of the things you posted and laugh at yourself). I'm most certain there will be more interesting posts from me in the future. :)
