hello a few days ago i buy a laptop with two disks:eek:ne hdd and one ssd.until now i used softwares like disk keeper for defragmentation-maintenance.
1)what can i do now?with two disks?can I do maintenance of two disks with the same program?
2)do i need two separates programs?(for SSD i know that we follow a different process called triming.can i do that with win 8.1 or ssd supported by itself?or can i do defragment triming with the s ame program?)
I apologize for my bad english and thanks in advance advance

SSD doesn't need defragmentation, if you do you'll damage it only.

I don't use Diskkeeper but I think it does recognize if your PC has both. For the regular Mechanical Drive, it will do defragmentation/consolidation. For SSD it just run Optimization so you are safe.

You can also open the Admin Command prompt and run:

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

If the result is '0' TRIM is enabled.

If not, run this:
fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0

Download Free Disk SpeedUp - Defrag Disk for Best Performance | Glarysoft can do fast and thorough job and is SSD aware. I didn't defrag HDDs since beginning of W7 and fragmentation didn't hit over 2 - 3% despite heavy traffic thru them and automatic defrag is always turned off. Even in olden days, fragmentation over 15 - 20% was considered non issue. So check your level of fragmentation first and don't push it if not absolutely necessary, just puts unneeded strain on HDDs.
