Corrupted files -- unable to use routine solutions

I'm having a problem with sfc /scannow reporting corrupted files that it can't fix.

So, I browsed this forum and found several threads about using a Win8.1 install media to fix this. I have that on a USB stick.

But ... the instructions say to do the following:

Code:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

Problem is ... when I look at the contents of the USB stick, in the Sources directory, there is no install.wim file; instead, there is an install.esd file. I created this USB stick directly from a download of the Win8.1 ISO from MS, so I know the USB stick is OK.

So now, how to I get a legit install.wim file to do this repair?

Yes -- and there must be thousands of lines, with hundreds of errors. The ones that seemed the most damaging were

yep that is same with me and some others here, possibly due to the update for enabling diagnostic tracking. Although no crashes or other errors.

Have run out of ideas -- NOTHING works!

Tried the following:
1) using existing install.esd file from a Win8.1 64-bit download from MS. Errors out on the WinReducer program with no indication as to why.
2) Did a fresh download from MS using the mediacreation tool to create the USB stick directly, without creating an ISO first. Used the install.esd file from that USB -- errored out same as 1)
3) Tried the install.esd from 1) with the new ESD-to-ISO tool from Win10 forums. Claims ESD file is corrupt.
4) Tried the install.esd from 2) with the new ESD-to-ISO tool from Win10 forums. Claims ESD file is corrupt.
5) Found another thread in which David Bailey suggest changing the group policy to use Windows updates for DISM to retrieve components. Failed with error 0x800f0906 -- the source files could not be downloaded.
6) Found the DVD I created from the MS download of the Win8.1 X64 ISO -- failed same as 1).

Using DISM with
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
gets the result
The component store is repairable
... but every esd file I try is claimed to be corrupt and I'm not able to create an install.wim file to use with the RestoreHealth option.

Looking more and more like a Repair Install is the only option.

Is files similar to this post, i might be wrong on saying it is same exact files or issue http://www.eightforums.com/performa...ybody-run-sfc-after-installing-kb3022345.html

Interesting read ... I found that KB in my update list --back on May 22. But, when I selected it, there was no option to remove it.

I found the command needed for DISM to remove it, but when I ran it, it failed saying, access denied.

So, I did some more searching and found the linked info from thetechcookbook. I ran the stuff under How to Fix this Issue and it completed successfully. Then, I ran sfc again, and this time, it found no problems. link: The Tech Cookbook – Windows 8 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files

Update KB3022345 strikes again.

There is no telling how many this has caused problems for. It seems that this update may not have caused problems immediately for some but is being problematic as time passes.

I uninstalled the update and never remember installing it, must of become a important update afterwards as only way got on my system, but even after uninstalling those errors in sfc prevailed.

Yeah, I know... my Installed Updates window looks like yours -- but when I click that KB, there is no option to uninstall.

Now that is strange as i would be able to, but as said i did once before and the update came back
