    install.wim not working as source

    I get this error---

    I mounted a Windows 8.1 Pro iso with an install.wim ---

    I used this command---

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:wim:F:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

    Address of wim file---

    F:\sources\install.wim

Any ideas why I got the error message ?

    1. Create a folder: mount under C:\
    2. Download DISM GUI - Download: DISM GUI 4.0 , right click and run as Administrator. See screen shot for step 3 & 4
    3. On the fist tab, click on Choose Wim and navigate to F:\sources and select install.wim
    4. Click on choose folder and type: C:\mount and then click on Mount WIM
    5. Open Admin Command prompt, copy and paste:
      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:\mount\windows /LimitAccess
      Pause
    6. Click on Dismount WIM when done
    7. remove C:\mount

David, could be that the wim contains older components that have been upgraded subsequently - the media you have is quite old - the latest is IR5_CPRA_X64FRER_EN-US_ESD.esd.

Couldn't find a copy of the esd you mentioned.

Got mine from the MCT iso I created.

    Actually I used---

    Mounted it---

Copied the install.wim to a folder & still got errors.

I'm just doing this because dism can't download the needed files anymore.

Am trying the txt file by KYHI now to see how it does.
    Will report back.

D, it's the ESD that Media creator tool downloads from which it creates the _DV9 iso - you shouldn't need to use the decryption script...

BTW.. one needs to re-download MCT to get the latest Win 8 release...in case you using the old one...
