System slows down after few hours of working

    Hello,

I have got some wired problem. After few hours of working my Windows 8.1 starts slowing down. After 2-3 days it is so slow that I have to wait a few seconds to enter any folder in my HDD (it looks like in very old machines on Windows 95 or older). After reboot everything works fine for next few hours.

I've checked my Task Manager if any application used to many RAM, CPU or HDD - but everything appears to be fine.

Have you guys got any ideas what may cause this issue? And how to solve it?

    Thanks for your help ;-)

    Regards
    Paluch

this can be related to several issues:
    1.) overheating
2.) out of physical memory scenario
    3.) old/corrupt windows ...

OK, it took me a while, but here are my screenshots of Task Manager. As You can see it is not a physical memory problem. I think overheating also isn't so likely, because I don't have any problems during playing for example... System is up to date and I installed it about two months ago.

Are you using anything after a while of working that would slow it down? Plug in an external drive or usb stick? open a certain application? Have you done a check on your HDD to see if there are any errors?

Hmm... The point is that slowing down is a process. It happens gradually and I can't associate it with some particular application or action.

I have just checked my system partition by chkdsk but no errors were found...

Do you find your PC gets warm/loud as it gets slower?

Not really... CPU isn't overloaded, most of time it works on the lowest frequency (I am using k10stat instead of hardware CNQ)...

So the pic's you posted is that from after a a few hours of you working? If not leave it on and do what you normally do and monitor your system and see if you see any changes. Check the performance monitor as well may have a bit more info to help find the issue.

One thing that comes to mind is malware, spyware, adware, etc, some of which are infamous for their resource-sucking attributes. Scan your computer thoroughly, perhaps also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for good measure.

Is your pagefile enabled and controlled by Windows? If you've set it in a custom fashion, how have you done so?

Check the S.M.A.R.T status for your storage mediums.

That's all I can think of, at the moment.
