Hello I get a problem with sfc /scannow.

Last time I run sfc /scannow and it cannot fix some system files because store is corrupted, so I run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth then later sfc /scannow fix the files. For second time (after some weeks) I run sfc /scannow to make sure no corrupted files and sfc /scannow find it and again cannot fix because store corrupted, so I run dism and later files fixed. Today I run the sfc again and found corrupted files and again cannot fix because store is corrupted (dunno why) and I need to run dism again and sfc fixed corrupted files.

Why each time I need to run dism so the sfc will only work?

Hello,

If you have modified or renamed any system files, SFC will flag it as corrupted as well. Could this be a cause for you?

When this happens next, post back with your uploaded sfcdetails.txt file from OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to see what files are needing to be repaired. This will hopefully let us see if there may be a pattern for a cause after a few times this happens. :)

Hi,
I followed your steps but I get an error "findstr cannot open c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log", then I go to the location and I cannot find this log. But why the store is corrupted each time I run sfc /scannow and need to run dism?

Did you run the SFC scan inside Windows and not at boot or safe mode? If you run SFC at boot or in safe mode, it will not generate a log.

Did you run the command for SFC details in an elevated command prompt (right click and click on run as administrator)?

Yes I run sfc /scannow in built-in admin inside windows and I think the log might get deleted. But why the component store keep corrupt?

Hello,
What the difference between "/startcomponentcleanup /resetbase" and "/spsuperseded"? Which one better for Windows 8.1?

The note boxes in the tutorial above can help tell you what each one does.

Nice, I will use /startcomponentcleanup since no service packs for 8.1 /spsuperseded will not work.
