Defrag program for 64bit Win8 Pro

Looking for a free defrag program to defrag 64bit

I use MyDefrag for all my 32bit machines, it does a brilliant job

Any suggestions for 64bit would be appreciated

I use WiseCare Free (all-in-one suite).

Windows own Defragment and Optimize Drives because:

1. It's VSS aware(what that means read this at Macrium) and many 3rd party are not.
2. It can be scheduled(during maintenance)
3. It was designed by the Microsoft.
4. It already moves Boot Files and most used files to the edge of the disk for faster access every few boots.
5. Using command line you can defrag free space and force a boot defrag(move boot files(see point #4).
6. Many of the so called advantages/claims by 3rd parties are either not backed up or make VERY LITTLE difference in access times.
7. If scheduled to about once a week or day Windows only does it if needed so that saves wear & tear on HDD, and when it does it it's done fast.

I've attached a batch file to defrag free space and boot defrag that I use for my HDD's(not the SSD of course), the attachment also contains a shortcut that runs with Admin privileges(needed for defragging) and instructions to modify the batch file to your needs and very important Disk Letter. You can try this for a couple of weeks if you wish, also when using any defrager make sure only one is turned on at a time because otherwise there will be conflicts and they both will run all the time, negating any advantage.

Download then go to properties and unblock it, then extract it to where ever you wish, then place the icon in desktop folder.

Windows own Defragment is also 3rd party tool, only limited, not sure about 8 though.

Don't just blindly use Defragmenters, check you disks fragmentation state first. Run > diskmgmt.msc > disk properties > tools > optimize. Few percent (less than 10 - 15%) is not a problem and do not need any defragmentation as that doesn't impact performance but places undue stress to HDD.
