I recently bough a new HP with windows 8, 64 bit. it has 6 GB or RAM and comes with an AMD A8-6410 APU with Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz. playing games on it and streaming some videos in high quality is becoming to start a problem. I have McAfee installed and that seems to take up most of my memory, "McAfee On-Access Scanner services" takes up 160.6 MB of memory on average. is this common? Any help would be appreciated and I can also provide any information about my cpu.

Three bullet points:

1) I have been using Norton for quite some time on another machine. A recent purchase had McAfee trial installed. I was very surprised at the large 160MB footprint. Perhaps Norton does a very good job hiding its footprint.

2) ColorMedia.exe--do you know what it does? Do you need it running? You have the option of preventing it from running at startup. Or you can uninstall it. And if you found one, there may be more to find.

3) Explore task manager/performance tab. It will show maximum cpu speed and the current real-time cpu speed. If the current speed is throttled rather than at stepped-down speed, that would be the avenue to explore.

If you mean live streaming, as in downloading from some website, the performance of the video is subject to everything in the chain -- including the video drivers and, probably most important, your download speed. It's likely that in this situation, the CPU would actually have little to no effect on the video performance.
