System Restore does not work on a Windows 8.1

I found this proposal solution to my problem but it is hard for me to install the proposed update System Restore does not work on a Windows 8.1-based computer 2955164[FONT=Segoe UI regular, Segoe UI, Arial, Tahoma, sans-serif]. I have download run it, I left it open for 2 hours but nothing it only shows that try to find updates to my PC. Also I try to find updates from windows updates but it only seems to load.

I can make a restore to my system here is message I receive:

• System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.

What AV program do you have installed?

Did you temporarily disable it to see if you could successfully perform a system restore afterwards?

Did you try to do a system restore at boot instead of from within Windows?

I use the trial 30-day version of AVG.

I have unistalled it totally and I made a reboot to my system but the problem remains the same.

I tried to make the system restore from Windows. I have never tried from boot because I don't know how to do it.

If you like, OPTION ONE in the tutorial I posted above can help show you how to do a System Restore at boot.

I saw and tried to run the option one from your helpful link.

But here if the problem I face: I go the mouse to the right top corner and I can see the list with Search ... Setting. When I click to the settings it doesn't give me the options and the strange is that the previous options are working perfect...

How about when using the shortcut below to boot to Advanced Startup.....
