Windows 8.1 CheckDisk Not Working Properly

Hello folks! I've recently began to do maintenance on my PC, and I've found out there's an error on my main disk (C:) I ran CheckDisk on it, and when it reboot, the checking only lasted several seconds. I then go back to the Tools section on the drive again to check and see if the program had done it's job, I was saddened to see it had done absolutely nothing. Every time I go back to check it, it keeps saying there's an error with the drive, and after several attempts at redoing this process, it still has done nothing to fix it apparently. I've also noticed that the Disk Defragmenter doesn't even recognize the C: drive, but it's still usable to the Windows Explorer. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue without reinstalling Windows?

What chkdsk command did you run?

Did you run the command with Adm. Command Prompt?

I ran Command Prompt as the Administrator and I used the /f /r and /x parameters.

I ran through with that and it basically did the same thing. Once it had reboot, it shown Scanning Drive C: for errors... No percentage had shown up after it like shown in the video, and it ran there for about 6-8 seconds, then skipped over it, and boot straight into Windows.

I think I must say something isn't right.

Assuming you have a decent sized disk (isn't listed in specs) the chkdsk should take a bit and more than seconds, especially your initial command. I have never used anything but chkdsk so I am not familiar with other options. Have you tried running sfc /scannow just to see what it finds?

No actually. I'll try that. Oh, and the disk size is approx 1 TB.

Running chkdsk on a 1TB HDD should take at bit and definitely not seconds.

Maybe there is a file corruption that is affecting some of your functions. If that is the case hopefully sfc /scannow will help.

Great. It's about 50% done as of now. After sfc /scannow is there another command I have to issue in order for it to fix it?
