It depends. When sfc is finished it will tell you if it fixed anything or if it fixed some but not all. Regardless of the final message I would run

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I sfc did not fix all corruptions run the above, restart and run sfc again.

    I would run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart and run sfc again. Sometimes it may take several cycles of this.

You definitely have some file issues.

Looking at the log I can't say if the sfc and dism commands will fix everything but at least it is clear that some file issues are clearly evident. For the sake of conversation, do you have any restore points you could fall back on or have you considered the Refresh option?

As far as restore points are concerned, I think those may have gotten wiped out by the Disk Cleanup utility. And I've tried to use the refresh option, but it requests the disk that came with the PC, and the OEM never included it.

Regardless of the final outcome with these attempts to repair I would strongly suggest you make backups of all files that are important if you do not already have it. Since you did not create your own recovery media when you got the PC you might consider getting the recovery media from Toshiba just to have it on hand. Also, if you get things working reasonably well you can make a Custom Refresh Image that will work without any additional media.

Thank you for the advice. I'm working on some of that right now. All of the files that I most absolutely can't afford losing are backed up in DropBox, Google Drive, and OneDrive. The operation completed and the text of the Command Prompt window is shown below:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
    (c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 6.3.9600.17031

    Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031

    [==========================100.0%==========================]
The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was
    repaired.
    The operation completed successfully.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>
