Service Host Local Service running at 100% Disk usage

I have a Sony Vaio SVS 151 with 12gb of ram running Windows 8.1. The disk usage runs at 100% almost all the time, and as long as the disk usage is high the laptop is almost unusable it runs so slow. Most of the time it is Service Host: Local Service. I have read other threads and none of the suggestions have corrected this problem.

Without knowing what suggestions you have already tried it will be difficult to offer any additional suggestions.

From other threads I have tried, increasing my virtual disk space, disabling my dvd drive, reinstalling my bios with the latest upgrade, upgrading device drivers.

Are all Windows Updates installed and up to date?
In an elevated command prompt type sfc /scannow. Does it fix all corrupt system files. If not all fixed type:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Then run the sfc command again, reboot. Is there any change.

If not, you may have to Refresh your Windows.

    I second the above.

If sfc /scannow does not complete without violations you should restart and repeat the operation a second time. After you run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth it should complete with message all corruptions/violations repaired, then run sfc /scannow again. Sometimes it may take running these commands a couple of times attempting to correct whatever issues that may be present.

You missed the space between the commands.

Thanks, I ran both of those commands and they completed successfully, however the problem still exists. When I researched refreshing windows it says I need the recovery disk that came with the computer, is there a way I can perform the refresh task without the disk, which I can't locate?

    Refresh, Option 2 from here:
    Refresh Windows 8

Not knowing what computer you have, you could use either the recovery partition or recovery disks for your computer.

You could download and burn a Windows 8.1 from here, be sure to have your Key.

Create a hard disk image of your computer in the event of a disaster, Macrium Reflect Free:

The above are the 4 choices you have to restore your computer.

As a last ditch effort before Refreshing may I suggest a few things.

Check amt. of disk fragmentation, defrag if necessary.

Manually trigger Start Maintenance in Action Center and let run till complete

    Run @ Adm. Cmd Prompt Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Any one of these things may or may not help but they sure won't hurt anything and it just might improve the situation.
