Sudden slow startup on Windows 8.1

Hello! I purchased my Lenovo IdeaPad G500, 59-390072, 15.6", Core i3, DDR3 4GB, HDD 1TB + 8GB SSD around 8 months ago and its boot time was around 10-15 sec. Then, a few days ago I installed Glary Utilities, which is supposed to be a decent cleaner, but after first cleaning session my pc suddenly needed awfully long to boot, even though the number of startup applications remained the same as before. Deinstallation didn't help, so I used System Restore. It said that System Restore could not be completed, possibly because some applications were protected by antivirus. At some point, I gave up and restored my pc to factory settings. Even after that, my boot time is still slow, around 55 sec. I've checked for malware, nothing, all drivers seem fine, I have no idea where the problem lies. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hardware diagnostics showed no issue, I updated BIOS and boot time is now around 20 sec. I guess that's it, then. Thank you for your help!

Hello! The issue is back. I didn't install any new programs and I checked for malware and viruses, nothing. Any other advice?

I'm not familiar with Lenovo product but wonder whether it is a full factory restore that has been done or just a Windows refresh of W8.1. If this problem has really coincided with using this cleaner program then I think you have to look at what the factory restore feature actually does and whether any boot files are on a separate partition and whether they get restored also. For example does it restore just the C partition. If this utility is the culprit then its altered something that is not getting restored back with a factory reset.

Just a thought... isn't there a user option for the quick boot. I seem to remember something written by Brink on it and how to turn it off.
