    Computer acting weirdly

This suddenly happened today when starting up my pc. My desktop icons go blank randomly, many startup processes dont start up with windows, and menus like My Computer and Control Panel are extremely slow. I'm panicking, this is a fairly new pc. Any suggestions? System restore didnt work, and refreshing will make it a pain to reinstall every single program.

Looking at the specs for your PC I see 2gb memory.

    What have you installed?

I think 8.1 will take most of the 2gb so depending on what other programs you have installed you may not have enough memory to do much else which will certainly cause your PC to slow down.

OK, Those specs are much better. But you still could have too many programs running on start-up. What all have you installed?

IS PC up-to-date with Windows updates?

Tuesday was Patch Tuesday for windows updates. Is your system set to auto install windows updates?

Do you have any other anti-virus/anti-malware installed other than Malwarebytes? If so you could have a conflict.

    Run scan with Malwarebytes.

You can also try running Sfc /scannow with adm Command Prompt. This could take a while.

My PC is up to date. I just found out the startup programs DO start up, but they take a LONG time to do so. Malwarebytes won't open for some reason. I just did a scan with avast though, and it found no viruses or malware. What could be the problem?

Ok, so I just tried the sfc scan, and it found corrupted files! It wasn't able to fix them, but it told me to refer to this log for more info. I have the log here (it exceeds filesize limit)

If Malwarebytes won't start, that could indicate a problem with a virus/malware. I would try to get Malwarebytes going even if you have to reinstall.

Run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth from cmd. prompt. run Sfc /scannow again, restart and run Sfc /scannow again.

I would also disable some of the unnecessary programs at start-up to see if any performance improvement as well as making sure disk isn't too fragmented.

    Hi,

I kinda feel like you aren't telling enough, first, this "sudden" change is not common and usually is due to the fact the user did something/ websites or downloaded programs that they shouldn't be from not so "good" websites..

I got this "feeling" when you had to post a log using "mediafire".

so, having said that, if my feelings are correct, what did you install that probably caused this "sudden" change?

if you seriously can't run malewarebytes then you definitely opened an .exe or something from a webpage you shouldn't of..

    i'm just guessing though.

did sfc /scannow finish with no error?

I ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, and it did nothing. However sfc /scannow gives no error and says there is nothing wrong. I posted a log with mediafire because it exceeded the filzesize for attachments. And I'm sure I did nothing to cause this, it happened when I came back home. Right now I'm going to try to get Malwarebytes running (reinstalling it did not work), so I will report back on how it goes.
