Okay I have a little problem with Windows 8.1 Pro
here is the scenario

  • 1 Windows 8.0 Pro tablet
  • 1 Windows 8.1 Pro laptop
  • both machines have a 50+ inch HD TV attached
  • each TV is set as the main display, with the tablet and laptop screens set as secondaries
  • each are running off the Intel on-board videos (that is all they have obviously)

they both function great

HERE IS THE RUB

when I turn my HDTV off on the Windows 8 tablet,
the TV just turns off and nothing happens, everything is still running on it (Which is good)
BUT
when I turn my HDTV off on the Windows 8.1 laptop,
the laptop display then becomes my main display and every thing is transferred to it. (Which is not good)

So how do I stop the 8.1 laptop display from becoming the main display when the TV is powered down?

NOTE:
the difference between the laptop/tablet display(s) is
the tablet is 1920 x 1080 resolution
and
the laptop is 1366 x 768 resolution
both TVS are 1920 x 1080

Your Main Computer display screen should be the main screen - and the TV the second display..

Usually you drag ( media player screen) over to second display which would be TV...

but I am at a lose of understanding this (and every thing is transferred to it. (Which is not good))

because Everything is actually running from within the laptop main screen, as the laptop is the source of the TV input

I use my tablet and laptop as my clocks (Alarm Clock HD) metro app. So I want that to always be displayed.
I use my big screens for reading the paper, email, gaming, we use media center with cable card for TV, so they are the main displays,

As I said Windows 8.0 works perfect, it is only the Windows 8.1 that does not.

Side Note:
Windows 8.1 also, does not function properly with my A/C WiFi
not that, that matters any

Thanks for the response
