Recently, my windows 8.1 become extremely slow when booting.
As soon as my computer shows the desktop, i can move mouse, but the task bar won't response my click, even i can't right click the desktop to refresh it. This situation will last for about 5 minutes.

normal windows program won't stop my mouse, so i think it should be some driver fault. But how can i determine which one?

so then "recently" what did you install/change?

if you didn't change anything then that means dust/electrical/ some physical problem has occurred in your system..

start doing a "clean boot" and look through "msconfig" - type that into a command prompt.

ask if you dont know how to do this .. it is also posted on this forum..

Actually, to disable startup app, which used to be done easily in MSCONFIG, now with win 8.1, you have to use the Task Manager, Startup tab.

I mentioned that because not everyone knows about the link you showed.

Both approaches get you there -- which one you use is a matter of personal preference.

Actually, i don't think it's related to startup programs.
I boot Windows through safe mode, it's OK
If i boot through safe mode with network, the problem shows up.
I reinstall my NIC driver, but the problem stands still. I've been driven crazy. maybe the only way is to reinstall OS

think about what you installed when it started to boot slow..

for example i recently installed .Net Framework 4.5 and guess what.. you will find all throughout google it causes a wait time during boot now .. so now all the sudden if i was a standard user, i would think all the sudden my computer is now slow..

perhaps you installed something especially related to your network that is causing conflict..
