Noticed that it takes about 6 seconds for the PC to wake from sleep with the HD off. Is that
an acceptable time frame for the OS operating correctly?

What is the time to wake from sleep with the HD ON?

Thanks for your help.

I just got this Win 8.1 system, Dell 660 desktop with core i5-4460 (I'm NOT using a graphics card)

What do you mean HD on? HDD is always off when sleep unless it's connected standby which is mostly available for tablets.

My tablet wakes up instantly due to connected standby. My Windows 7 laptop also takes 6 seconds to wake so I guess it's normal.

Thanks for the response theveterans. Actually my parents Windows 7 desktop had
the selection for the HDD to remain ON during sleep up to 1 hour from the factory, but it can be adjusted to actually turn off if the pc is in sleep mode longer. Interesting. It's not really a huge deal but I believe my parents PC wakes from sleep
in less than 4 seconds with an older core i5 and less memory.

I see. It's a manufacturer's customization so they're not included in original windows OS.
