CHKDSK baulking

The laptop has been getting a tad slow just lately with downloads and even clicking on forum links and the post area taking a while to load up. Now I have tried running most of the usual malwares scans Kaspersky, MBAM, SAS and ADW a sfc and then I tried a chkdsk with and without the / f and /r switches.
However the chkdsk baulks at 19% and then I get a screen that the machine was not shut down properly which of course is a nonsense as I use the restart toggle.

Am running a SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD so any ideas please because this machine used to be really quick.

Try with some other disk checking program like this: Download CheckDisk - MajorGeeks or Download CheckDiskGUI - MajorGeeks

Hello and thanks Mike after four attempts it finally has done a straight chkdsk. Now it is down to finding why the machine is going so slowly, and it is not obviously down to some disk problems - well at least I don't think it is because the sfc came back ok as well.

That's good but may I ask if your SSD is on right connector, is controller in AHCI mode and do you have right drivers for controller (ie. IRST), is Trim command enabled.? Failing to set all of that right can have serious impact on SSD's performance and with it to put a crimp in overall performance.
