Hi, if you look at my specs and compare my old laptops specs, you might be wondering, "What the F#$%?"
Here is the link to my old account when I had my old laptop:

Windows 7 Help Forums - View Profile: MCPlayer18

I could get 10-20 FPS on that at most (Rough Estimate)
But Now I only get 1-29 FPS. For system specs like my new laptop, this shouldn't be happening.
My new laptop was bought on 12/5/2014
My new laptop also boots up/shuts down way slower comparing to my old one.
It took 10 seconds for my old one and like 1-3 minutes for my new one.
Please help me!

Ulv gpu/cpu vs old full voltage CPU/gpu

The newer AMD might get higher performance at first, but after a couple of minutes it'll slow down due to tdp/thermal limits since there's not enough overhead in both power and cooling unlike full voltage CPU.

Only 5400RPM HDD. As far as booting and shutting down laptop compared to other, always check what is starting up evertime you boot, same items have to close when it shuts down. Look in Task Manager under Startup, remove some startup items.
Even check into certain items found in notification area. Clean History, defrag.
jds63 is on the money here with checking the basics. Also how new is your laptop? Even with an SSD my new Lenovo H530 needed a couple of weeks to "settle in". It needs time (and quite a few boots) to set up how it loads your desktop(boot order defrag > admin command prompt: defrag c: /b /v /u), also it cleans up unneeded language packs. I shut my computer off always after use but when new or fresh/reinstall I leave it on when I go to work and don't let it hibernate or sleep so it can do all those background processes in a couple of days, but the main thing is it takes time for Windows to settle in.

How long do you think it will take? And since my Hard drive is 1TB, I don't know how long it will take. Also, I got it on 12/5/14

Thanks Cliff S, whenever someone mentions slow boot or shutdown, always first things to check. With New Laptop usually comes loaded with a lot of bloatware that is starting up on boot and going to remain running. First thing need to do is familiarize yourself with all this new software added by manufacturer first, then decide which you need or do not need or can disable it from starting with no ill effect.

Do not go crazy shutting things off right away or looking to get laptop running as fast as it can or to beat the older one, take your time look over software first.

Even though one is a dual core other a quad core, i seem to feel both processor on each are not even over 2GHZ speed processors to see a great differences to compare. One has Windows 7 other Windows 8.1. Then you have a 5400RPM HDD on new one, size not really going give you speed being 1TB just more room.

Also need make sure Windows is all updated, talking about Video card, make sure for any new updates, let Windows first look for them or check AMD's site.

Before buying a new PC and expecting a performance gain, checking the task manager and resource monitor gives an overview of bottlenecks between memory, CPUs, disk, graphics, and network. The component with the highest usage usually points to what needs upgraded. However, page faulting can be fixed with more memory.

So what you're saying is I was tricked with the awesome processor?

No,Only you would know what you wanted when you purchased it. One of your concerns was FPS other was Slow boot, gave you suggestions on that, which are pretty straight forward for most to do for it. What i felt is you are comparing it to your older Windows 7 laptop and this new one wasn't that far from processor speeds, but i felt probably due to many startup items and other things mentioned to. All in all new processor is better then older one.

To speed up boot times to really be noticeable you need an ssd. After I set-up my new Lenovo by uninstalling the "crapware" and Mcafee A/V that came bundled(did keep LVT, onekey recovery, and solution center), I then made a recovery usb, then installed a new Samsung 840 pro that comes with migration software....now my computer, with windows fastboot turned on, boots to login screen faster than my LG HDTV "boots". But even with the ssd some programs and services would lag a bit the first couple of weeks until windows cleaned up everything on it's own.
In Action Center under Reliability History you can see how much reconfiguration is going on. Windows comes so it can be used when newly installed by almost any computer, then it reconfigs itself to your hardware, priorities & needs over time(and quite a few cold boots).

A lot truth there, i replaced my original HDD with SSD i see a lot of improvements overall. Liked about ASUS system was barely any bloatware at all. By the way, i know Lenovo is notorious for a lot of this bloatware. Windows 8.1 after couple of restarts after new SSD will be recognized or can run WinSat Formal. As said OP needs to check what is running at startup and in back round.

Well I don't know what exactly is happening but the pc store I bought it from is looking for anything that could cause this.

I also don't know if I will be able to have an SSD.

Since it must be still under warranty would not advise opening it, it will void it as you know. Question is, what kind of store, mean qualified techs ?

But according to the computer store I bought it from, every generation, GHz gets 20% faster. And if 1-2 generations come out every year, then it would have been 60-120% faster compared to my 2011 pentium

But 2.1GHz is faster than 1.7GHz. The 1.7GHz can do more if there are more cores than in the 2.1GHz CPU. But if the program you are running uses only 1 core (which is often the case), then all the cores in the world do not help.

Kind of what i was saying in a previous post of mine, was not great deal of difference in processors to see such a drastic difference.
I was not ever saying you were tricked into anything, but it seems now your thoughts were to want to see a improvement over last System. Chances then you needed to research more on purchase before it was made. Again you never tried suggestions made to increase boot time. 2 different operating systems too.

Wish you luck on whatever you choose to do.

In addition, the AMD is a Low power CPU = slower than Pentium at sustained clock speeds. If the OP got a full voltage AMD CPU, eg AMD A8-7200P, it should have higher frequency and be much faster than the Pentium
