Windows 8 system freezes for some seconds multiple times a day.

Hi, My system freezes randomly for a few seconds. In the eventviewer i see often these ESENT (508) warnings:

LiveComm (1680) C:\Users\nlv02271\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalStat e\LiveComm\costongs@hotmail.com\16.2\: A request to write to the file "C:\Users\nlv02271\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalSta te\LiveComm\costongs@hotmail.com\16.2\DBStore\LogFiles\edb.log" at offset 974848 (0x00000000000ee000) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (20 seconds) to be serviced by the OS. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

I am using a brand new Intel 520 series SSD.

What can be the cause of this?

Alright, it's working fine here. I just tested it.

Anyhow, you can type msinfo32 in the start menu. Press Enter. File | save on the opened screen. Zip the saved file then attach it here.

Also, do you have C:\Windows\Minidump folder at all?

You might see if visiting Intel.com to download and install the latest SATA storage driver helps the situation. The currently used driver:

    Code:
    Name Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    Manufacturer Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    Status OK
    PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2929&SUBSYS_02331028&REV_03\3&18D45AA6&0&FA
    I/O Port 0x00006E70-0x00006E77
    I/O Port 0x00006E78-0x00006E7B
    I/O Port 0x00006E80-0x00006E87
    I/O Port 0x00006E88-0x00006E8B
    I/O Port 0x00006EA0-0x00006EBF
    Memory Address 0xFED1C800-0xFED1CFFF
    IRQ Channel IRQ 19
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\storahci.sys (6.2.8250.0, 70,30 KB (71.992 bytes), 18-2-2012 5:37)

Hi, I did already use the "driver update" option in the device manager and it did found a newer version but after the requested reboot it did store the old version back, i think.

i have also checked the Intel website but couldn't find a newer version than the one in your log.. (18-2-2012 is pretty new..)

Maybe you can have a look at the attached event viewer log?

Don't worry about driver dates, as the one from Intel is different and made specifically for your hardware. Whichever is the latest AHCI storage driver available for your chipset from there, install it. Find the Windows 7 one manually, as it probably will not give you one with the auto scan since it is Windows 8.
