Windows 8 Hard Drive Process at 100

So today I logged on my computer and noticed my pc was going really slow, so I checked my task manager and saw that Steam was using 99.9% disk space. I thought that was odd so I ended the task. Then the game I was playing which is the Original Rome Total War started getting 99.9% disk space. I ended that program but it kept jumping tasks till finally my System process was doing it too. After a while of searching the web I just decided to reinstall windows completely without keeping any original files. It has finally finished but the problem still persists. This really worry's me because I am thinking my HDD is busted or something along those lines.

Can anyone offer me some assistance?

    Specs
    i5 intel core processor
    gtx 660
    8gb ram
    1 tb HDD

the item attached to the thread is a screenshot of my task manager.

What does S.M.A.R.T. for the HDD report? Use something like Speccy to give SMART stats.

A quick look in Disk Management will tell you if your hard disk is healthy or not under Status

Personally don't like it, too vanilla. Not enough info, I like numbers. To each their own.

To each their own I suppose. If reported unhealthy, then I would proceed further looking at the numbers.

Nice kitty. We had a girl that was with us 22 years. Broke our hearts when she passed, they become a family member.
