    Do maintenance time


    Now is a good time to do maintenance.

    Run virus scan.
    Defragment.
    Chkdisk.
    sfc
    dism
    etc., etc.
    backup image.

    Disk cleanup.

    Thanks, David, but I find this to be all automated. That's one great feature about 8/8.1. Depending on resources, these will run in the background on a daily basis during more idle times. Since I have less resources, I will lock mine and turn of the monitor/sound system during the day if I leave it. It's set to sleep after 2 hours. Oft times I'll come back after a half hour or so finding it busy with a maintenance program. It'll stop once I sign in and continue on once I leave it again.

    Usually I'll shut 'er down at night. If I feel I haven't left it enough during the day I'll do likewise and let it go to sleep. I do check on it every Update Tuesday to make sure all maintenance gets done. I'll only run system scans if I run into problems, which is hardly ever. A one very stable OS indeed.
