My windows 8/Samsung laptop has been down for over a week & I am freaking out. I just rwceived my system recovery disc from Samsung...and it will NOT LOAD. all I get is the Samsumg logo page, and them the usual "there are errors, etc,etc". I can get to the BIOS page, but I NEED this disc to load- it seems this is my only hope. THANKS!

Thank you SO MUCH. I have looked into Samsung support but will look some more.

It looks like I somehow need to enable my boot/BIOS screen for DVD. if so, I'm not sure how to do that as of yet. I'll keep plugging.

Thank you so much. I have been on the phone for HOURS with Samsung & hopefully my BIOS settings were the issue an I hope they're right now. Am trying to boot up now. Thanks again & we'll see.

Here are my BIOS changes/settings:

ADVANCED tab-> fast bios mode DISABLED.

BOOT tab-> secure boot DISABLED

OS mode selection - UEFI & CSM OS

PXW OPROM- DISABLED
(Someone suggested this should be at LEGACY?)

I also set BOOT PRIORITY ORDER and put SATA CD to no. 1

I don't know what any of this means, but it's where I am now.

PXE usually involves booting a computer from a read-only-memory or programmable read-only-memory chip, or from a network.

Maybe try a different setting for that and see if it makes any difference. These oem firmware implementations are something of a black art.

If you are still having an issue, are you able to get the recovery media to boot on a different machine?

Try booting the DVD on another computer. It's possible it's defective. Wouldn't be the first time a new DVD was bad.

Well...it looks like I'm off to Craigslist to find someone who can get my laptop running for me. I'm going to try a couple of more times playing with the BIOS settings...just for giggles.
