hello ,
i have win8.1 and sfc /scannow i ran as admin and it gave me this msg

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

the system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot .

AFter this msg i did reboot (it updated and rebooted twice )and ran sfc /scannow again it gave me the same msg. its happening after win8.1 update which i did two days back. Also i have disabled turned off windows system restore. i tried even dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. but then again it gave me the same msg: the system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot .

is there any way i can set it right ?

Note : please dont tell me to do refresh as i have games installed runing half the way

If dism fails then something is wrong.
A refresh would be advisable.
Or a restore.
I know that is not what you want to hear. :(

If it says to reboot, reboot.

SFC knows what it is doing.

I read the txt file.
You had a LOT of things that could not be repaired.
Running dism should fix all of them.
Run dism, then run sfc & reboot.

Then run dism & sfc again.& reboot.

I've never gotten the sfc reboot message.
Maybe---

{ to get group policy see picture--- screenshot_150.jpg }

To configure Group Policy for Feature on Demand

  • Open the group policy editor. For example, on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, from the start screen, type Edit Group Policy, and then select Edit Group Policy to open the Group Policy Editor.
  • Click Computer Configuration, click Administrative Templates, click System, and then double-click the Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair setting.
  • Select the settings that you want to use for Features on Demand.

ty but i don't think its right way doing group policy editor which i don't even know what features to select and what not to , i hope windows update may fix my sfc ?

Note: before yesterdays update even dism used to give me same repair changes after reboot option but after updated it repaired successfully option and not the reboot option, hope same way even sfc will be fixed after update i guesss , not sure anyone faced this type problem as mine

Note 2: last month also i had same problem with sfc which gave me some files could not be fixed but dism restored successfully but this time , i donno why its giving me this headache , also refreshing is pain reinstalling all softwares and games to start from beginning , hope anyone who reads this can give me clear solution

Note 3: i tried from usb boot win8.1 cmd too. there also same result for scansfc . but overall after all the effort my hardisk C drive which is win8.1 ate up 7gb space , not sure how it did even when i disabled system restore off

i will have some patience and wait for windows update hope that might fix

This video should provide enough info to get the job done.
