Windows 8.1 can't search for files in C drive

I can't search for files in C drive. If I open up a folder on C drive and search from there, I just see the green bar filling up the address bar and nothing happens. Strangely enough, search works if I open up a folder on an external hard drive and search from there. When I use metro search or search from start button, I can only search for programs, but not files. I can also search within control panel. I have classicshell. Please help, thanks.

edit: now I restarted my computer and it seems to be worker. Also Indexing Options is not frozen anymore.
