Running Windows 8 on Pentium Dual Core setup

I have tried running Windows 8 on my Pentium Dual Core setup. It runs at 2.7 GHz, and i have 4 GB of DDR2-800. The problem is, even with every update installed and the newest drivers installed, that Windows 8 is very, very, very slow on my system. And Windows 8 lacks proper drivers for my Belkin FD71101 WiFi card. I was curious if anyone knew how to get Windows 8 running as fast or faster than 7 on my setup. Thanks.

No one has any ideas? Until I can get 8 running good I am stuck in Vista land.

Did you run Windows Upgrade Advisor before attempting to upgrade? Also see this:
AMD Phenom II X4 920 Drivers Download - Update AMD Software

If you have installed Win 8, disable all Start up items in Task Manager. If speed improves, re-enable them one by one until you find which one is slowing you down. Check on the Belkin website if the have the proper driver for your system.

Yes I did run the advisor. All it said was that since i have the old school BIOS that i could not run the newer fetures of the UEFI setups.

I don't have an AMD processor.

I've already tried the disable startup routine, no help there.

Belkin makes no new drivers for my card, and has NO drivers for Windows 8.

Then your posted system specs show another system:
    System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built
    OS Windows 8
CPU AMD Phenom II X4 920
    Motherboard Asus M2N-SLI
    Memory 3 GB DD2 PC-5300
    Graphics Card ATI HD 2400

Some people have had success with the built-in driver for conceptronic 54Mbps Usb adapter
Download Conceptronic Wireless 54Mbps USB adapter 1.0.6.0

You don't need UEFI to run Win 8.

You may run in the elevated command prompt (Admin) sfc /scannow This should fix any corrupt system files, may help.

I wouldn't expect much performance out of your Pentium cpu.

Guess I will put Windows 8 on the shelf and use Windows 7 as it seems no one can get it to work. :/

I have Win 8.1 on a Pentium dual-core laptop and it runs just fine (actually a lot faster than mh wife's Win 7 machine). No idea what the differences are between mine and yours since I don't know what Intel's numbering means - I have a 2020M processor (2.4 GHz), 12GB of RAM, and a 750GB hard drive. Seems like your setup ought to work (at least better than you say it does). Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable will chime in with a solution for you.

kona0197 - I have found that doing the following will speed up your Win 8.
    1. Disable your wireless , if you can work with a LAN cable direct to your router .
    2. Disable the Windows Defender AV , and install something like Avast instead .
    3. If there are no drivers for your Belkin card , then this is almost surely slowing you down - disable it - should help .

Replace the hard drive with a SSD. The hard drive is the slowest component and you'll run much faster with an SSD.

This. A million times this. Replacing the HD with an SSD thoroughly rejuvenated my 2008 Dell Vostro 1400 with 1.6 GHz dual core Pentium and 2 GB RAM. Running Windows 8.1, it feels hugely faster than when I first got it.
