Windows Explorer/File Explorer Always Opens Minimized

    Hello Everyone.

    I use Windows 8.1.

Until few days ago, everything was working fine. No idea what happened but whenever I open the File Explorer/Windows Explorer, it always opens minimized. Earlier I just needed to maximize it and close it so that when the next time I open it, it opens maximized. But when I do that now, it still opens minimized.

Not just that. I like to have my files and folders view to be as "large icons". But, its all in "details" view now. Earlier if something like this happened, I would change it once to "large icons" and it remained intact upon my viewing next time. However, it doesn't happen now. Inspite of changing the view settings to "large icons", they still open "details" view.

Any idea, how to solve both the issues? It would be very helpful.

    Thanks.

Most icons can be right-clicked, choose Properties and on the Shortcut tab click Run and change from Normal Window to Minimized or to Maximized. Yours may be set for Minimized.

    For window sizes, try:
Grab the window header itself with your cursor/left click and hold, bring it to the top of your monitor til it blows up maximized; (don't use the maximize button and make sure that it is the only window open!)
    After maximization, close the window.

    For folder views:
In each directory, choose large icons then open folder options, view tab, click on 'Apply to Folders' then click on 'Yes' in the dialog that pops up: 'Do you want all folders......', click Apply and OK in previous window.

    Thanks for the reply, Ed.

The folder issue is sorted now.

But, no changes with the File Explorer. I held the window header and dragged it upto the top and it blew up maximized. I closed the window and when I opened again, its minimized again.

Yes, I tried it after Berton's suggestion but no change. It still opens minimized.

On my computer I clicked the maximize button & closed the window & reopened it & it was Maximized.
I tried dragging it bigger & smaller & closing it & reopening it & it reopened at the set size.

It used to be like that for me as well, mate. If the window opened minimized, I would maximize it and then close it. So, the next time when I open it, it opened maximized. But that hasn't been working for almost a week.

    Have you tried sfc /scannow & Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ? {in administrator command prompts}

    Hey Mate!

I tried the sfc /scannow & Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth twice, and this is what it says:-

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Do you want me to copy-paste the SFC Details?

    Thanks.
