Windows 8 has a very nice feature called "Snap", where you can have either two Metro apps or one Metro app and a "legacy" app sharing the screen. In order to use this feature, you have to have a screen resolution of at least 1366x768. My monitor maxes out at 1280x1024, so I apparently cannot use it. However, I read recently about a program called Windows 8 Snap Enabler that apparently does a registry hack to allow the snap feature to operate on screen resolutions lower than the required one. Here is the web page of the developer of this app:
Force Windows 8 to Enable Snap Feature In Any Screen Res. - Learn With Nirab
I tried the registry hack on my dual boot of the Consumer Preview, and it doesn't work! I then found other web pages about this program, where several users added comments to the page verifying that the hack, apparently originated for the Developer's Preview of Windows 8, does not work on the latest Consumer Preview:
Enable Windows 8 Snap Feature And How To Snap Metro Application
Does anyone know of some way of getting Snap to work on a low res monitor? (Incidentally, I have entered a comment on the learnwithnirab page asking the developer if he is working on a version that will work with the Consumer Preview.
