When my 8.1 laptop lost time and I didn't understand why I looked in Control Panel/System Security/Action Centre and altho the Automatic Maintenance says No action needed the last run date is unknown and Windows was unable to determine the last date maintenance was run. If I try to Start Maintenance manually the laptop just gives a ding noise and nothing. When I changed maintenance settings that did not resolve it. I have gone into Troubleshooting but there are no issues, I have installed all the updates and I have run all the diagnostic tools. I am at a loss as to why the Automatic Maintenance is not working and whether that is the reason my laptop lost a few minutes in time. I should add that on my other laptop the Automatic Maintenance is working because it gives the last run date. Anyone give me any help please.

Does the sfc command fix anything?

Done an sfc and Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. From looking at the log I can't tell which are the corrupt files. How do I repair these corrupt files?

Run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command and rerun the sfc command again then reboot the system.

Thanks for that but unfortunately I couldn't get it to run. The command just flashed up for a secondor so both times I tried to get it to run. I did the sfc 3 x but didn't fix anything.

Strange the DISM command not working. Try to do a Repair Install. The last resort would be to reinstall Windows.

Incase anyone else has the same problem. I had to do Refresh, when the Automatic Maintenance was not running and I could not start maintenance manually. Doing Refresh got Automatic Maintenance to run again.
