Anyone know any registry tweaks to make my computer faster it isnt slow buti want it to be faster.

There are registry tweaks all over the Internet. But unfortunately most don't do anything useful.
Many are useful in specific situations while otherwise they are harmful.
Many were supported in long obsolete systems but now do nothing.
There are many whose origins are a mystery. Nobody knows where they came from. But no matter, they do nothing.
In many cases the descriptions are seriously or hopelessly inaccurate.

If there was some registry change that was safe and significantly improved performance in typical usage, why was it not set by default?
I don't use any performance registry tweaks. And I have seen a lot of them.

My Dell came with Win 7 and when I go to the site it recognizes the PC as having Win 7. Will this affect the recommendations it makes now that i am running Win 8.1? I would hate to follow the directions to update the BIOS only to brick the machine.
It is currently A3 and the identical laptop is A11.

Hey Peter,

I'd just make sure that that anything you download supports Windows 8.1.

That is the question of the day -will a a manuf. site support a pc with an upgraded OS regarding updated BIOS, drivers etc.
I would think it would be a known issue that is why I asked. But, I am not going to chance it. I will only use the manuf. site if the OS I am running is the same the manuf. recognizes.
Thank you for replying.

Apologies, I assumed this thread was about something completely different than your issue.. Since you weren't the one who started it.. ;)
