    Windows 8.1 slow bootup

Hey guys. Firstly I apologise if I posted in the wrong section.

On Monday I built my own pc and installed Windows 8.1. I've installed just basic drivers from vendors websites and avast, malwarebytes, some benchmarking utilities and games. I'm getting really sluggish startup speeds, and my pc stops at a black screen after the windows logo but before the logo.

My friends pc boots up within 30 seconds (lower specs than mine), where mines can take a couple of of mins.

    What I've tried:
reinstalled video card drivers to see if it stops black screening
    Full virus scan
    Made startup programs minimal
Checked event viewer for anything peculiar
    Fiddled with msconfig settings

I boot in safe mode perfectly fine which suggests it's a program that's causing it, but I've tried a diagnostic boot up from msconfig also to no avail.

A boot log showed my printer drivers acting up and not loading so I uninstall them, and my pc loaded extremely fast for one boot, but after that the usual black screens and slow startup occurred.

I can reinstall but I really want to find out the cause of the issue, as I may run into the same issue.

Any help is appreciated and feel free to ask for any more info.

    Thanks

Edit: this just happened recently and was fine 2 or 3 days ago

Drivers for printer probably got loaded again. Try to "kill" Print Spooler service and Printer Extension and Notification service too.
Any malfunction of the driver will slow boot down.

Hey there. Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for the reply, but how do I go about doing this? How can I ensure that everything to do with my printers HP drivers are deleted? Also this is the log I get when running a bootlog:

    6 13 2014 01:55:14.494 BOOTLOG_LOADED \SystemRoot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe BOOTL - Pastebin.com

Notice the only one that does not load is "BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys", multiple times.

I've realized that shutting down and then turning the pc back on is much faster than just restarting - is this normal?

In case you don't have all set up differently, go to Search (Charms bar), type SERVICES and choose "View Local Services". and there you can find those 2 services, you can disable them from starting. If the problem is with them that should fix it. Remember what you did, you may need them later on when you fix drivers.

Much faster, no, somewhat faster may happen if there are some programs "Hanging" and can't be shut down normally.

I feel that it is quite a lot faster for some reason.

I've turned those services back on - cold boots are still fast, its restarts that are fairly slow

If you think printer drivers are making problems this might help to find them and uninstall them: Download Device Remover 0.9.5212.27342
Or to find what's booting when and how long it takes for components to load: Download BootRacer - Test your Windows boot speed
Should be able to see what is happening when you cold boot or when restarting.

The printer drivers didn't change my restart speed so I reinstalled them and I'm getting around 70s for a bootup on bootracer, I can't work out how to use bootracer for a cold boot though, and how do I check what programs it is that are making me slow down?
